The Inaugural Voyage of the Smooth Cruise : 2008
When I first dreamed of throwing a smooth cruise, it seemed too amazing and profound to actually be able to pull off. It was on par with putting a man on the moon or colonizing America - a really big undertaking and shit. But everyone embraced my vision of an afternoon spent trawling around the marina, drinking smooth drinks and listening to even smoother tunes all whilst wearing costumes. Like really, really embraced it.
When I first mentioned wanting to have a saxophone playing "Baker Street" I was afraid people would look at me funny. Instead you all were there - with ready ears to hear Adam croon some Gerry Rafferty. When I ask you to wear your smoothest outfits, you didn't scoff, you wore them and wore them proudly. And when I said to bring smooth food and beverages - what did you do? You made Ambrosia salad and brought wine coolers.
We lived the dream people. It was like being transported back to a 1983 Kenny Loggins recording session. Pure Bliss. God Bless you all.
So thank you all - and lets get ready for the 2nd Smooth Cruise!
